“Sorry to disappoint. The Wall Street Journal’s report is false.”

More than 20 people told me that they were contacted by the Wall Street Journal (and some other media outlets) asking:

“Can you confirm if CZ has made a deal for a pardon?”

They may have asked hundreds of people to get 20 people to contact me. Essentially, they tried very hard to create a story to publish.

The truth is: I have never had any discussions about a deal with Binance US or anyone.

No criminal would reject a pardon, especially when I am the only person in U.S. history sentenced to prison for a single BSA charge. It seems like this article aims to target the President, cryptocurrency, and the remnants of the “anti-crypto war” from the previous administration that are still active.

I am always happy to see cryptocurrency flourish everywhere, whether in the U.S. or globally.

It’s amusing that even the Wall Street Journal thinks I should be pardoned.”

Zhao’s statement directly contradicts a report from the Wall Street Journal, which he claims is false.
